The recent 40th Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine Annual Scientific meeting held in Auckland, New Zealand made an impact on the 350 attendees.

The trade display included representatives from General Electric, Phillips, InSight, ARI (ANSTO Health), InMed, Comecer, GMS and Radpharm, Bioscan, Covidien, Cyclomedica, Genzme, Hologic, Imaging Connections, Lantheus and PETNET Solutions.

The trade display was well patronised no doubt due to the fine food and beverages provided at each break. The close proximity of the poster sessions also assisted in keeping people in the exhibition area.

PETNET’s bronze sponsorship which included hosting the Pre-Meeting Symposium ‘Monitoring Disease: Nuclear Medicine, Oncology and PET’ held at the picturesque Ascension Wine Estate, Matakana, was deemed a success. Guests and speakers included Assoc. Prof. Vijay Kumar from Sydney University who spoke at length on his experience at Westmead with Gallium 68, Dr Trevor FitzJohn on the value of PET•CT in Lung Cancer Staging, and Dr.George Laking on Imaging of Perfusion and Hypoxia. Additional talks from Prof. Richard Baum were unfortunately cancelled as he was unable to leave Europe due to the Icelandic volcano eruption. In addition, wonderful wines and a delightful lunch at the winery were enjoyed by all.

“The meeting provided an ideal opportunity for the nuclear medicine community to learn, exchange ideas, network with industry colleagues and be inspired by some of the brightest minds in their respective fields,” said John Hodder.

PETNET would like to thank the Committee for doing an excellent job at the meeting and for putting on a world class event.
